Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. He was an honest man who loved his country. As a self-taught lawyer, he eventually took up politics in order to make a change that he knew was necessary for the United States of America. During his presidency, Abraham Lincoln drafted the emancipation proclamation and the 13th amendment of the United States Constitution. These two significant pieces of legislation lead to the eventual liberation of 3.5 million slaves in the United States of America. While serving as President, he led his nation through and out of the Civil War helping to reunite a divided nation.
